Itoo was killed alongwith his two associates, Irfan ul Haq from Maldair village of Shopian and Umar Majeed from Katpora Kulgam in a gunbattle at Awneera village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Two army soldiers were also killed in the gunbattle while as two civilians were killed in clashes which erupted during and after the gunfight in different areas of south Kashmir.
